Embarking on their musical journeys in the early 2000s and 2010s respectively, Rob Ellis and Dale Roberts carved their paths through the vibrant music industry. Ellis rose to prominence under Rydas Records in the mid-2000s, while Roberts explored psychedelic punk with Waste, gracing Liverpool's iconic Cavern Club stage in 2016.
In 2014, Ellis secured a deal with Hot City Music, led by Mr. Serv On of No Limit Records fame, propelling him to new heights. Meanwhile, Roberts fronted Dystopian Sun, debuting their single "Lifeline" in 2019 before moving on to metalcore with Demarus.
Both artists experienced pivotal shifts in their careers, with Ellis founding the rap/metal band, I Am Trouble in 2016 and Roberts releasing his solo project "Vulnerable."
In 2024, their paths intersected as they joined forces to create Idol Kings, a rap metal sensation that pushes the boundaries of genre conventions. After recording a collaboration song and touring the Midwest United States with Michigan hardcore band, Approaching Autumn, Joel Pratt and Deven Trull of AA joined Idol Kings on guitar and bass respectively. As well as recruiting Rob's former I Am Trouble band mate, Nick Moates on drums. Add that with Ellis's rap expertise and Roberts's versatile vocals, Idol Kings have quickly established themselves as visionary forces in the music scene, delivering electrifying performances and shaping the future of rap metal.
